The four-step enrollment process may take up to three weeks to complete. The Volunteer Resource Department will be available to help guide you through the application process. Step 1: Attend a New Employee and Volunteer Orientation class.
This two-hour training highlights the history, values, and fundamental principles of the Red Cross and announces volunteer opportunities available within the chapter. Call 1.877.454.7229 to register for this class. View volunteer class schedule.
Step 2: Complete the chapter volunteer application.
Download the printable application. When you've completed the application, mail or fax it to our chapter or bring it with you to your New Employee and Volunteer Orientation (NEVO) class. Download Volunteer Application (pdf)
Step 3: Complete the online background check.
In order to become a Red Cross volunteer, you'll need to complete a simple online background check with www.mybackgroundcheck.com/ArcVts. Background Check Intake Sheet (word)
Step 4: Train for Your Volunteer Opportunity.
Depending on what volunteer path you choose with the American Red Cross, you may need to complete additional training. Volunteer coordinators will work with you to refer you to the department of your choice and will inform you of any additional training you may need to get started. Youth Volunteers
Please note all Red Cross volunteers must be at least 15 years old. Volunteers under 18 must attach with their application a youth permission form signed by their parent/guardian.
