This class, required for all new volunteers, highlights the history, values and fundamental principles of the Red Cross and announces volunteer opportunities currently available within the chapter. After this course you should be able to:
- Identify the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross Movement
- Identify the important people in the history of the American Red Cross
- Explain the mission of the American Red Cross
- Identify and describe the values expected of Red Cross volunteers and employees
- Describe the key services of the American Red Cross
- Be familiar with available volunteer opportunities
- Know your next steps in the volunteer process

Court-Mandated Volunteer Policy
Please do not register for Red Cross Orientation if you are a court-mandated volunteer as the American Red Cross does not offer opportunities to fulfill these requirements. We recommend that you contact Volunteer San Diego.
