Objectives: This class is designed to familiarize new volunteers with the American Red Cross. It includes information on the history, mission, fundamental principles, values, policies and procedures, organizational structure, key services, volunteer opportunities and information about how to get started as a volunteer. After this course you should be able to:
- Identify the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross Movement.
- Identify the important people in the history of the American Red Cross.
- Explain the mission of the American Red Cross.
- Identify and describe the values expected of Red Cross volunteers and employees.
- Describe the key services of the American Red Cross.
- Be familiar with the Volunteer Opportunities
- Know how to get started as a Volunteer at your local Chapter
Prerequisites: None
Implications: Please do not register if you are a court mandated volunteer or seeking to volunteer at the NMCSD (Balboa Hospital) or Naval Hosptial, Camp Pendleton. We do not have opportunities for either position. Thank you for your understanding.
