Red Cross to Teach Preparedness Class at SDAR & BIA Home Expo; Offers FREE Admission Coupon
(San Diego)—With fire season already upon us, now is the time to make sure your loved ones and your home are equipped to make it safely through an emergency. The American Red Cross invites San Diegans to learn about family safety planning at a free disaster education class called “Is your home prepared for a disaster?” The class will be taught at 10:45 a.m., on Saturday, May 10th at the Home Expo in Hall D of the San Diego Convention Center. Thanks to the San Diego Association of Realtors, the Red Cross is providing vouchers for FREE admission to the Home Expo, which can be downloaded here. Admission at the door is $8.00 for adults, $4.00 for seniors / military and free for children under the age of 12.
Taught by a Red Cross preparedness instructor, “Is your home prepared for a disaster?” will inform about disasters that are most likely to happen in San Diego County, particularly home fires, wildfires, floods, earthquakes, and chemical and technological emergencies. During the hour-and-a-half long course, participants will learn what to do in the event of each disaster situation and will better understand what action steps should be taken now to prevent injuries and ensure the safest possible response for all family members.
The American Red Cross would like to thank the San Diego Association of Realtors and the Building Industry Association of San Diego for their donation of classroom space at the Home Expo and for providing free admission coupons so attendees can receive this valuable preparedness information at no cost. For more information about the Red Cross’s Community Disaster Education class or to schedule a class for your school or workplace, please call 858-309-1200.
