Real Heroes Awards
There are everyday heroes among us, who inspire us by their actions, compassion, and dedication to serving others. The Red Cross honors these heroes for their courageous, live-saving actions at the annual Real Heroes Awards. Join us on Friday, September 26, 2008, for an inspirational presentation of the 2008 Real Heroes Awards on the USS Midway!
CPR Saturday
CPR Saturday is a free family-friendly training day offered to the San Diego Community annually. The event includes Adult CPR and allows the Red Cross to train and prepare a large number of residents who may otherwise not be able to afford it. The event also includes training sessions for children ages 5 to 11. Children’s training includes Basic Aid Training (first aid & safety information) and Whales Tales (how to be safe in, on, and around the water).
Volunteer Recognition
Volunteer Recognition honors the dedication of the people who serve their community and neighbors through the Red Cross. In San Diego and Imperial Counties, more than 1,200 volunteers donate their time each year. Volunteers comprise 97 percent of the Red Cross workforce.
Lifeguard Games
The Lifeguard Games is a fun, exciting event which will bring together certified lifeguards from over 100 swimming pools in San Diego and Imperial Counties. This event will enable city and county lifeguards to showcase and further hone their life-saving and water safety skills in the presence of their peers and members of the community.
